READERS gave a mixed reaction to news that Marks & Spencer is moving out of Middleton Grange Shopping Centre.

Natalie Thomas, 24, a heatlh care assistant living near Owton Manor, said: “There is nothing there that I like anyway. If Marks & Spencer moves out of the shopping centre, I wouldn’t find the need to go into the shopping centre anymore.”

Mathew Tyers, 20, an IT engineer from Throston area, said: “A lot of offices in the town centre do tend to use Marks & Spencer on their lunch time, but if it is far away we could travel there.

“Being in the shopping centre makes it very accessible though.”

Liam Sanderson, 19, a young serviceman returning from a tour in Afghanistan, said: “My nana will be devastated. It will become massively difficult for her. I use the shopping centre only to buy clothes so it doesn’t bother me much.”

Warehouse operator Kyle Royal, 23, from Grange Road, said: “Marks & Spencer is far too expensive anyway. I use the shopping centre for McDonald’s or Greggs and do my weekly shopping at Iceland.”

Mum-of-one Carly Snowball, 30, from Eltringham Road, found the move for Mark and Spencer work to her advantage. She said: “I would find it more convenient to use Marks & Spencer when it moves to the marina as I can drive there with my newborn baby than having to walk into town.”
