A MOPED rider was knocked unconscious and left with a broken hand after “clipping” a pedestrian in a road incident.
The man was travelling on the silver Yamaha motorised scooter in Marlowe Road, Hartlepool, when he swerved to avoid a member of the public around 7.45am yesterday.
The rider, 48, hit the pedestrian, 28, but not with full impact, say police, and then fell to the ground in the incident outside of The Catholic Club.
Officers say the rider was knocked out for a short time.
Police and ambulance services were called to the scene and the injured rider regained consciousness and started talking to paramedics.
He was then taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, where he was released with a broken hand and grazes to his left leg.
The pedestrian, a man, escaped with minor grazing.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “The rider swerved and just clipped the pedestrian in this incident.”
