HEAVY rain that has battered Hartlepool and East Durham is set to continue overnight – but there is hope for the weekend.
Outbreaks of potentially heavy bursts of rain will continue overnight before it becomes drier in the early morning.
An easterly breeze will keep it feeling cold, though it should be mainly frost-free.
Saturday will start cloudy with some light, patchy rain at times and risk of some coastal mist or fog.
A brighter afternoon could follow, though it will still feel chilly at around 9C.
Sunday is set to be a better day with sunny and dry spells, despite it remaining breezy along the coast.
