A nervous flier is finally back in the UK after causing a two-hour delay to an easyJet flight.
The youngster, part of a UK school party of around 45, became anxious as the flight was due to take off from Amsterdam to Newcastle.
It was understood the pupil became agitated after seeing another passenger who was writing.
Eventually, the youngster and 15 others from the school party, disembarked from the plane and it flew to Newcastle last night.
The pupils who got off returned on another easyJet flight which landed today at Stansted.
EasyJet said: “We can confirm that flight EZY6554 from Amsterdam to Newcastle yesterday evening was delayed while a number of passengers from a school group chose to move on to an alternative flight.
“This was due to a nervous young passenger in the group who raised a security issue prior to take-off. The captain fully assessed the issue and the flight was cleared for take-off by easyJet’s security department. The safety and well-being of our passengers is always easyJet’s priority.
“The flight was delayed by two hours, 20 minutes while the issue was investigated and to enable 16 members of the group to be offloaded along with their baggage.
“EasyJet transferred the passengers on to an alternative flight free of charge. We would like to thank passengers for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience the delay may have caused them.”
