OAP victim still 'critical'
A BLIND pensioner who was rushed to hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation after a blaze at his home remains in a critical condition
The Mail reported yesterday that emergency services rushed to Lime Crescent flatlets, in Hartlepool, where the man's ground-floor flat was on fire.
Today, police say the cause of the blaze was a cigarette or pipe the man was smoking and although the pensioner is due to be moved from the high dependency unit at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, to a ward, he remains in a critical condition.
