Ray Parlour in action for Arsenal

A FORMER England international footballer is set for a trip north to look back on his career and support Hartlepool & District Hospice.

Ray Parlour, who has 400 professional appearances to his name, will talk about his time at Arsenal and Middlesbrough as well as his 10 caps for England at a sportsman’s dinner next month.

The 39-year-old, who still plays for semi-professional team Wembley FC, has three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, a League Cup and European Cup Winners Cup to his name.

And he will be looking back on his illustrious career when he raises cash for the hospice at the Wynyard Rooms on Friday, February 22.

Ray said: “It’s always a pleasure to be in the North-East and I am looking forward to working with Hartlepool & District Hospice and helping to raise lots of money for their care services.

“I am sure that we will have a fantastic night supporting this vital local charity.”

Guests at the event will also be treated to a three-course meal, charity auction and raffle as well as a performance from comedian and compere for the evening, Aiden Jay.

Carol Sennett, hospice corporate fundraiser, said: “We are really looking forward to a great night with Ray, I think it is going to be an evening to remember.

“The Wynyard Rooms are already patrons of the hospice and it has been a fantastic experience working with the staff who have been a huge support with this event.”

Tickets for the event are on sale now, priced at £45 per head.

Group bookings are also available.

To book the event, call Carol at the hospice on (01429) 855552 or email csennett@hartlepoolhospice.co.uk.

Hospice staff are expecting tickets to sell fast so are encouraging people who are interested to snap up tickets as soon as possible.
