Party time in the park
FAMILIES refused to let Bank Holiday showers dampen their spirits during a park's annual fun day.
Ward Jackson Park's annual Summer Extravaganza in Hartlepool saw hundreds of people enjoy a host of rides, games, and live music and dance displays.
Highlights included band Monsters of Pop who played in the park's original Victorian bandstand, an energetic group of child drummers from Africa and the town's Hawks cheerleaders.
The Dawn of Chivalry re-enactment group also went down a storm with the crowds.
Rachel Wilson, chairman of organisers The Friends of Ward Jackson Park, said: "Despite the weather everyone had a fantastic time.
"Numbers were down a little but that is to be expected considering
the weather.
"However, a brilliant day was had by all and a big thank you goes to everyone who helped put on the event."
The day also features fairground rides, face painting, story telling, belly dancing, a climbing tower, a steam locomotive engine, art and embroidery, crafts, stalls, Victorian dress and workshops.
