Pensioner attacked at bus stop

POLICE are appealing for information after a pensioner was attacked as he waited for a bus.

The 66-year-old man was assaulted in Low Grange Avenue, in Billingham, on Saturday night.

The man was waiting at the bus stop outside of Low Grange Social Club at 8pm when a man stopped and chatted to the victim before punching him in an unprovoked attack.

The attacker, described as white, around 5ft 7in-tall, slim build, with a bald head and wearing a white vest, then fled over the grassed area towards Evesham Way.

The pensioner was left with two black eyes, a suspected broken nose and cuts and bruises to his face.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Timothy Gill, of Cleveland Police, on 101 or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
