Pensioner hit by van
A PENSIONER is in hospital with a broken leg after she was struck by a van that mounted the kerb then drove off.
The 67-year-old Billingham woman was walking along the pavement in Yarm Road, Stockton, when the hit and run happened.
Police are appealing for help in finding the driver of the white van, who had driven the vehicle out of the Barclays Bank car park before driving off towards the town centre.
The woman is being treated at the University Hospital of North Tees after the incident, which happened at 2.20pm on Monday.
Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact PC Lucy Thrower, of the Roads Policing Unit, on (01642) 301552 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
