Plant steam sparks alarm

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a number of false alarms.

Two appliances from Stranton Fire Station were called to the Huntsman Tioxide plant, on Tees Road, along with an engine from Billingham Fire Station.

But when they arrived on Friday night, it turned out that steam from a machine had caused the fire alarm to activate.

Stranton firefighters also turned out to a reported flat fire in Thornaby, which involved five appliances.

But the incident turned out to be a false alarm.
