HUNDREDS of youngsters are learning this week how bad behaviour can make lives a misery.

Hartlepool pupils are attending an Anti-social Behaviour Awareness Day (ASBAD) at Borough Hall, on the Headland.

Newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland Barry Coppinger is the special guest at the event, which runs until Friday.

Year 8 pupils from all of the town’s secondary schools are attending.

The aim is to educate young people through workshops about how unruly behaviour can ruin other people’s lives.

There will be other matters covered by the workshops such as e-safety, cyber bullying, respectful relationships, alcohol and drug dangers.

The event will be attended by around 1,200 pupils from Hartlepool.

Sally Forth, Hartlepool Borough Council’s community safety manager, said: “The whole point of ASBAD is to bring lots of young people together so that we can more easily reach out to them to make them more aware of how their behaviour could be construed by others as anti-social, and to encourage them to change.”
