POLICE are searching a beauty spot after a car belonging to a missing deputy headteacher was found there overnight.

Officers from Durham Police are scouring the picnic area at Blackhall Rocks for Mark Bushnell.

The 50-year-old, from Durham City, is the deputy head at Durham School in the city.

Police are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare, after he was reported missing on Sunday.

He was last seen at around 11.30am on Sunday when he left his home driving a grey Citroen C3.

Police are appealing for members of the public to help them trace Mr Bushnell.

He is described as a white, around 5ft 10in-tall and of slim build with closely shaved grey hair.

He was possibly wearing a checked shirt and brown or blue jeans.

Mr Bushnell’s car was found in the early hours of Monday at a picnic site.

Chief Inspector Andy Huddleston said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Mr Bushnell and need to trace him as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information on Mr Bushnell’s whereabouts or anyone who may have seen him is asked to contact police on 101.
