Police to quiz two after street stabbing
A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a street fight in the early hours of today.
Two men, who are thought to be from Lithuania, were rushed to hospital with serious stab wounds after police were called to Skerne Road, in the West View area of Hartlepool, at around 1.30am.
Both men are said to be in a stable condition at the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.
One of the men, aged 54, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and the other, aged 38, was arrested on suspicion of wounding.
Detectives said they hope to speak to the two men today after their conditions have been monitored by medics.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Our investigations into an incident in Skerne Road are at an early stage.
"We hope to speak to the two men in hospital later today.
"This is a serious incident and they are serious wounds."
