TWITTER fans were out in force to make the Pride of Hartlepool awards a massive social media success.

And everyone who tweeted agreed it was a fantastic night with not a dry eye in the house at the fantastic venue of Hartlepool Sixth Form College.

From the superb shortlisted candidates to the evening’s outstanding master of ceremonies Wayne Allen, all got a mention on Twitter.

Police Superintendent Paul Beddow was one of the shortlisted contenders in the Emergency Services category, but he was moved by the stories of immense bravery shown by all of the Children of Courage nominees.

He tweeted: “Heart goes out to those Children of Courage and their families at the end. Truly, truly inspirational people.”

There was praise for teenage singer Georgia Lennon who gave a brilliant solo performance.

Just as impressive were dance crew Ruff Diamond and choir Mum’s The Word.

Coun Jonathan Brash posted: “Stunning performance by Georgia Lennon at Pride in Hartlepool Awards. Standing ovation well deserved.”

Dance crew Ruff Diamond sent a few hearts fluttering among their fans. Donna Emmerson tweeted: “Rosie and Lauren are excited ruff diamond are in the room and want a photo after :-)”

And Ruff Diamond tweeted: “Ruff Diamond ‏@RuffDiamondUK Nice to see @WayneNorthEast again at pride of hartlepool :)@HPoolMail what an inspiring night !”

And Wayne himself posted: “Hosting the Pride of Hartlepool Awards tonight for @HPoolMail with a dear friend @JoyYatesHMail who I do not see enough but love x”

The Hartlepool Mail team kept its followers up to date with a string of tweets and video tweets throughout the evening. Editor Joy Yates posted: “Proud to be involved. #mailpride”

Mark Thompson said: “Loving Mum’s The Word. Absolutely belting out the hits! #mailpride.”

Reporter Dominic Shaw tweeted: “Fresh from #GotToDance, @RuffDiamondUK receive a special recognition award at Pride of Hartlepool awards. #mailpride.”
