Pulling the bus - all for charity
BUS drivers are normally found behind the wheels of their vehicle.
But all that changed when a team of 14 workers from Stagecoach North East found themselves pulling a 8,800 kilo bus for charity.
The power-sapping challenge saw the team haul a new Enviro 200 bus for 45 feet, in Navigation Point, at Hartlepool Marina.
The event was held to raise money for the Hartlepool and District Hospice and also marked a Stagecoach 2m investment in a new fleet of buses for the town.
Stagecoach made a corporate donation to the charity and managing director John Conroy said: "The new buses will make a significant impact upon the travel experience we offer our customers and we wanted to launch them into service by making an impact upon the local community.
"The bus pull is a great way of showcasing our 2m investment in public transport, while supporting an organisation that is at the heart of the town."
Hospice chief executive Helen Mills said: "Stagecoach has supported the hospice for many years now and the bus pull is a great and unique way of raising awareness and funds."
