Rescued from store lift

FIREFIGHTERS were sent to free five people from a lift at a new store.

A crew from Stranton Fire Station was called to the new BHS store, at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, in Hartlepool, after reports that someone was trapped in the store’’s lift.

Firefighters spent 10 minutes freeing three women and two children after the lift’s doors would not open.

A station spokesman said all five people were “fine” following the incident, which happened around 2pm on Saturday.
