Residents in Hartlepool and East Durham reminded to stay safe during latest industrial action by fire services

RESIDENTS and businesses are being reminded to take extra care as firefighters prepare for their latest round of industrial action over a national pensions dispute.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) at Cleveland Fire Brigade and Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service will stage further walkouts this week, alongside their national counterparts.

Fire chiefs have pledged that robust contingency plans are in place throughout the duration, as has been the case during the 15 previous strikes in recent months.

Strike action takes place at fire stations in Hartlepool and Peterlee from 6am-8am and from 5pm-7pm on Monday, and the during the same periods on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Union members will stage a walkout again on Friday, from 6am-8am and from 11pm to 1am the following morning.

The industrial action continues on Saturday, from 11am-1pm and from 11pm to 1am the following morning.

Next Sunday, the strike runs from 5pm-7pm and on Monday, July 21 from 6am-8am and from 5pm-7pm.
