RESIDENTS will be better informed of what is going on in their local community – thanks to the efforts of two ward councillors and a prominent businessman.
Hart Ward Labour councillors Paul Beck and Jean Robinson have both used £750 of their individual ward budget to help fund a new notice board at Clavering Shops.
Ward Budgets were introduced by Hartlepool Borough Council in 2012-13 and each councillor received £5,000 to spend on projects in the current financial year.
Coun Beck said: “Ward councillors have a duty to support their local communities and the new notice board will help keep people informed about what is happening in the local area.”
Coun Robinson added: “Previously, there was a lack of facilities to inform local people about what is happening in the Clavering area and a number of organisations have already come forward in the first few days to use it which is great.”
The attractive glass-fronted notice board is located on land owned by businessman Leo Gillen.
Mr Gillen said: “We are always keen to support the council and local communities.
“The notice board is in a prominent location and I am sure it will be well used.”
