Road works reminder
DRIVERS are reminded that a busy junction will be closed for six weeks from today while improvements are carried out.
Work was due to get underway to widen the junction of Elwick Road and Catcote Road, in Hartlepool, as part of the Tees Valley Bus Improvement Scheme.
Pedestrian crossing islands will also be introduced at the junction as part of the improvements.
Catcote Road will remain open for two-way traffic, but access from Catcote Road to Elwick Road will be via a diversion along Park Road and Queensberry Avenue.
Pedestrian and resident access will not be affected.
Brendon Colarossi, senior projects officer at Hartlepool Borough Council’s highways section, said: “These important improvements are part of a wider ongoing programme to improve the bus network across the town and also to improve access for pedestrians.
“We are doing our very best to minimise disruption to drivers while the work is being carried out but we apologise for any inconvenience which it may cause.”
