FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out two small rubbish fires in the early hours.

A crew from Stranton Fire Station dealt with a small blaze on the Central Estate at 5.30am yesterday and another in nearby West View Road 30 minutes later.

It came before firefighters were called after reports of a blaze within an allotment in Hartlepool’s Wiltshire Way where they discovered the smoke was a result of someone burning off some waste.

One appliance from Stranton Station attended at around 10.30am yesterday, but on arrival there was no fire to put out.
