Shoplifter waits fate

A WOMAN will have to wait to learn her fate after admitting a week-long shoplifting spree.

Debbie Ann Robson, 25, appeared before Hartlepool Magistrates' Court facing five charges of shop theft.

Robson pleaded guilty stealing a denim skirt, worth 16, from Peacocks Stores, in Hartlepool, on January 26.

The court heard that Robson had also previously admitted stealing a scarf, worth 15, belonging to Miss Selfridge, in Middlesbrough, on January 30.

And she admitted stealing jewellery and other items, worth 109, from Matalan, in Hartlepool, and a T-shirt, worth 14, from Next, in Hartlepool, both on January 31.

Robson, of Brunel Close, Hartlepool, has also admitted stealing cosmetics, worth 98.96, along with a man, from Boots, in Hartlepool's Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, on February 2.

Prosecuting, Alan Davison said that all thefts were identified at the scene, the goods were recovered and Robson made full admissions.

Mitigating, Stuart Haywood said Robson's underlying problem is one of heroin misuse, which she is seeking treatment for, and asked for the case to be adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.

The case was adjourned until Friday, February 19, for reports and Robson was given conditional bail in the meantime.
