MEN and boys of all ages are being urged to sign up and take part in one of Hartlepool’s most iconic events.
The Miles for Men fun run returns to town on Sunday, July 27 and this year’s run will start and finish at The Domes in Seaton Carew and will once again be a 5k race.
Michael Day - the brains behind Miles for Men - is once again encouraging as many men as possible to sign up in order to make it the best year yet.
Registration forms are now available for those wanting to take part.
Michael said: “It would be great to get as many people as possible taking part in Miles for Men.
“It has really captured the hearts and minds of town people and now we are asking them to once again register to take part.”
The event has enjoyed a meteoric rise since it was first held in 2012.
Michael wanted to do something in memory of his late father, Michael Day Snr, who lost his battle with throat cancer in 2007, aged 67.
He suggested a sponsored run for men and more than £40,000 was raised from the first event.
The second in Hartlepool was just as successful but by last year, the Miles for Men phenomenon had grown with races also being held in Liverpool and Newcastle.
This year, along with the annual Hartlepool event, there will also be events in Liverpool on Sunday, June 29 and Sunderland on Sunday, August 3.
Since its launch, the charity has now raised £84,500 and organisers on the Miles for Men committee are looking to break the £100,000 mark.
There is a 2,000 limit on runners at Hartlepool this year.
The event starts at 1pm on Sunday, July 27 at the Sports Domes, in Tees Road, and the course will finish there as well.
T-shirts and race numbers will be issued from 10.30am at the start line on race day.
