FIREFIGHTERS were called to clean up a spillage on a busy Hartlepool road at rush-hour.

Two fire engines from the town’s Stranton Fire Brigade went to Brenda Road where there had been a leak of a diesel additive.

There was a build up of traffic as a result.

Crews used absorbent fibres to soak up the spillage at around 5pm on Wednesday, August 6.

The carriageway was cleared by 6.45pm.

A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: “A diesel additive had been spilled on the road.

“Crews used fibres to soak up the spill.”
