Still time to bid for funds

TIME is running out for talented sports people to put themselves in the running for a grant.

The next round of sports grants are available from the Hartlepool Sports Council, but the deadline for applications is Monday, January 14.

The fund aims to give assistance to talented sports people within Hartlepool.

It aims is to help people who are gifted in their chosen sport so that they can compete at the highest level and achieve their maximum potential.

Applicants will be eligible for grants up to a maximum of £150, with national athletes receiving up to £300 and international competitors up ro £500.

Grants are available to cover travel expenses, coaching fees, specialist equipment, sports kit and competition fees.

Applicants need to currently be competing at least at county level or above.

A letter of support from a relevant coach needs to be included, and anyone who has been awarded sports grants is ineligible to apply for 24 months.

Applicants must complete a competition record from the last twelve months and recipients of the awards must either live, have their family home or play their sport within the Hartlepool Borough Council boundaries.

The panel has the final decision in all matters relating to the awarding of grants.

Applications can be sent either electronically to: sport.recreation@hartlepool.gov.uk or by post to: Sport and Recreation, Level 4, Civic Centre, Victoria Road, Hartlepool, TS24 8AY
