Students made up to see special visitor
A FAMOUS make-up artist visited a college to share his top tips with students.
Award-winning celebrity make-up artist Daniel Sandler visited Hartlepool's College of Further Education, in Stockton Street, for a night of glitz.
Daniel, who creates glamorous looks for the likes of TV stars Davina McCall and Myleene Klass and supermodels including Kate Moss, took to the stage to create four of his favourite looks.
He recreated the bright and quirky style of Gwen Stefani, the smoky-eyed sultry look of Cheryl Cole, the 60s style of Twiggy and a colourful catwalk tropical bird look.
He gave expert advice on everything from how to get flawless foundation, to perfect eyelashes and luscious lips.
Daniel, who owns Urban Retreat Makeup Studio in Harrods, London, presented a portfolio of famous faces he has made up, including Gerri Halliwell, Martine McCutcheon and Jennifer Ellison.
The event was also attended by around 50 members of the public who had the opportunity to buy products from his range.
Daniel said the most common mistake women make with make-up is heavy-handed application.
He said: "I don't think it is down to somebody choosing the wrong colour.
"Anybody can wear anything, but it's how you apply it.
"If you are heavy-handed and you have not blended it, it will not look flattering."
Daniel, who was commissioned to do Jade Goody's make-up for her marriage to Jack Tweed in February, advised students to team up with an ambitious young photographer or hairdresser.
Tracey Jukes, a beauty lecturer at the college, said: "We were privileged to have someone of such a high calibre within the industry visiting our college.
"The staff, students and associates that attended were thoroughly inspired to see his work."
