Stylish arrival at prom
STUDENTS celebrated the end of term in style when they were driven to their prom in a vintage bus.
Seventeen friends from Manor College of Technology, in Hartlepool, boarded the Leyland Tiger which took them to a night of partying at Hardwick Hall, in Sedgefield, last night.
They were waved off by friends and family who had gathered in Newark Road on the Fens estate.
The idea of a bus came from parent Paul Hackwell after the girls said they wanted something different to the traditional limo.
Julie Hackwell, whose 16-year-old daughter Ashleigh was among the passengers, said: "My husband went on the internet and came up with the idea and they all opted for it.
"They were over the moon with it because it is in Manor's colours of green and cream.
"The kids have worked hard all year long and the parents all agreed they deserved to have a good night."
Other students who made their way to the prom had a memorable night, and there were some stunning dresses on show from the young ladies while the gentlemen also scrubbed up well.
The event brought the curtain down on the prom season and pictures from all of the schools' big nights will be included in a souvenir supplement in Monday's Mail.
