YOUNGSTERS had a great time raising cash for a national cause.

Children from Hartlepool did their part to rake in funds for Comic Relief when they went along to Chatham House Children’s Centre, in Chatham Road, with their parents and carers.

They enjoyed cakes and a raffle and a good natter, all for a good cause.

Claire Modrate, a family support worker for Hartlepool Borough Council, which organised the event – part of a week-long fundraiser at all of the town’s children’s centres – said the youngsters and adults had a brilliant time.

She said: “We’ve been doing activities all week long, things like selling cakes, having treasure hunts and raffles, all to raise money for Comic Relief.

“The staff are also wearing red today and we’re having a staff lunch.

“Everyone’s had a great week raising money for Comic Relief, it’s been really good.”

Zip Banks, one of the organisers, said: “This has been a fantastic opportunity for Hartlepool residents to visit their local children’s centre and see what they have to offer.

“We put together an excellent programme of free activities on a red nose theme and families have come along and joined the fun.

Other children’s centre’s throughout the town held similar Comic Relief activities.
