The search is on for the top adult learners in Hartlepool

The search is on to find the individuals, organisations and businesses in Hartlepool who have made the most outstanding achievements in adult learning over the past year.

People are invited to make nominations for the very first Hartlepool Festival of Learning Awards, which will take place in the Grand Hotel on June 17.

The awards are organised by Hartlepool Borough Council’s Adult Education and Economic Regeneration teams as part of the new national annual Festival of Learning from May to June which aims to involve more adults in learning and highlight their achievements.

The five categories are Outstanding Individual; Young Adult Learner (ages 18-25); Learning For Work Individual Award; Innovative Learning Project / Group Award; and Festival of Learning Employer Award. They are open to Hartlepool residents who are aged 18 or over on May 20 and who have done some or all of their learning between March 1, last year, and May 20 this year. For projects and organisations/employers to be considered, their learning provision must be based in Hartlepool and must be for adults who are aged 18 or over on May 20 and some of that provision must have taken place between January 2015 and May 20, 2016.

Councillor Kevin Cranney, chair of Hartlepool Council’s Regeneration Services Policy Committee, said: “Please help us to find and celebrate the most outstanding examples of adult learning – and through that to inspire other people to follow suit and transform their lives too.”
