Three-way charity push for charity
SUPERMARKET employees are preparing to take to the road with their trollies in an attempt to raise cash for a cancer charity.
The Tesco employees will be pushing a trolley too the three stores in Hartlepool on the same day to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Linda Reed, 48, Andrea Waite, 40 and her 18-year-old daughter Kayleigh Powell, all work in the Tesco store on the Fens shopping parade.
The charitable trio will be pushing a trolley to the Tesco Express, at Throston Grange, before making their way to the Tesco Extra store, in Belle Vue Way.
The group, who will be carrying collection buckets around the route, will then make their way back to the Fens store.
Linda, a customer assistant from Dunoon Road, is in remission for breast cancer and she is fully aware of the good work the charity does.
The married mum-of-one said: "I was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago and I had only been at Tesco for six weeks.
"I had to take the next year off and they were very good about it.
"I had six sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy and it was a tough time.
"Marie Curie Cancer Care is a great charity that provides a lot of help and support for people in need, and we are hoping to raise a couple of hundred pounds from the trolley push.
"It will certainly raise a few eyebrows as we walk around."
The staff have also set up a tombola in the store to boost the total amount raised.
The trolley push takes place on Saturday, September 27, starting at the Catcote Road-based store at 11am.
