Town braces itself for more snow
HARTLEPOOL was set to experience more snow today and it could be heavy but brief, say experts.
Forecasters at the Met Office say light snow was expected at around 3pm today and then predicted to get heavier at teatime before turning to sleet during the night.
But the good news is that it is not expected to be a lasting chilly spell with temperatures rising to eight degrees Centigrade on Thursday and Friday, with sunny spells expected.
East Durham, meanwhile, can expect heavy snow from 3pm onwards to 9pm. It has prompted a level 3 cold weather alert from the Met Office which means people should be aware of the situation.
But just like Hartlepool, the weather is expected to become warmer and sunnier from Thursday onwards.
