RESIDENTS took the opportunity to play a part in helping to draw up a new regeneration plan for Hartlepool.

Hartlepool Borough Council is behind the Regeneration Masterplan, which forms part of the Hartlepool Vision aimed at revitalising the centre of Hartlepool and spark the town’s wider regeneration.

Consultants GVA landed the key role in helping the council deliver the masterplan which covers a number of key development sites including the town’s Marina and waterfront areas.

Town residents had the chance to find out more about the blueprint at two drop-in consultation events. One was held throughout the day at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, while the other was held last night at Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience.

The drop-in sessions are part of an extensive consultation which will also includes businesses, land owners, developers and other key groups.

Labour councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, council leader, said: “When we launched the Hartlepool Vision earlier this year we gave a commitment to involve the local community and we will continue to do this throughout the master-planning process.” Anyone who couldn’t make the drop-in events can complete an on-line questionnaire via www.hartlepool.gov.uk or call (01429) 523531 for a paper copy.
