Unforgettable day for fairytale couple

THERE were magical memories by the bucketload as the Mail's Bride of the Year tied the knot in a £10,000 wedding.

Michelle Davison, 33, said "I do" to fiance Stephen Jewson in a ceremony filled with tears, joy and poignant moments yesterday.

Then, as she took a few minutes to reflect on her new title as Mrs Jewson, college worker Michelle said: "Today has been everything I hoped it would be – and more!

"I have married my Prince Charming with my friends and family around me and it has all been wonderful.

"I have been so excited about it all over the last few days and I really want to thank everyone who has contributed to our wedding.

"It hardly feels like five minutes since I was told I had won the competition in the Mail and it's still hard to take in at times.

"But I have enjoyed every minute of the preparation. It has truly been unforgettable."

Michelle and Stephen, also 33, married at the Staincliffe Hotel in Seaton Carew in a wedding which had an ivory and gold colour theme.

Around 50 guests joined them from as far away as Nottingham and Scotland.

The couple's three-year-old daughter Isabelle Jewson won over the guests with the "aww!" factor after declaring herself Princess Bridesmaid for the day.

Earlier in the day, the Mail followed Michelle and Stephen as they nervously made the last-minute preparations for their momentous day.

From the arrival of the buttonholes to that last minute adjustment of make-up. From the arrival of the wedding cars to the proud mother of the bride arriving at the wedding venue. We captured it all.

The childhood sweethearts, who have been together for 16 years, finally became husband and wife yesterday.

In Michelle's speech, she said: "When we entered this competition, we wanted it to be about the three of us.

"In the Mail, with the photos and the way it has been reported, it has meant that we have had very beautiful things that we can look back on.

They have included us every step of the way.

"We've gone through a lovely journey together."
