VIDEO: Mr Motivator puts crowds through paces

A TV fitness instructor put tall ships crowds through their paces when he took to the stage for an energetic work out.

Muscle man Mr Motivator brought his Jamaican magic to Hartlepool when he appeared on the main stage at the Tall Ships Village yesterday afternoon.

True to his name the fitness fanatic, who shot to fame in the early 1990s after appearing on GMTV's breakfast show, got children, parents and grandparents clapping, waving their hands in the air and doing a chicken dance.

Around 200 people took part in his lively half-hour session working up a sweat, including Hartlepool Mail reporters Emma Greenhalgh and Chris Cordner.

Mr Motivator, whose real name is Derrick Errol Evans, dressed in his own unique style in a red spandex outfit.

He told the Mail: "The crowd was good. Everyone was waving their hands and getting involved.

"The atmosphere is great and everyone was having a fantastic time.

"I believe all the people in Hartlepool can get motivated and get fit.

"I am 58-years old and look at me."

After a quick break, he took to the stage again in the NHS marquee to get even more people moving.

He said: "I'm trying to show people that exercise does not have to be complicated. This makes people feel like they are able to do something.

"Some people have the impression that exercise is difficult, but you just have to do a little bit each day."

Now watch Mr Motivator in action.
