VIDEO: Pupils get the Xmas Factor

YOUNGSTERS got the chance to be like their favourite popstars for the day when they recorded a charity CD at a professional studio.

Pupils from Sacred Heart Primary School, in Hart Lane, Hartlepool, produced a Christmas album at The Studio, in the town's Tower Street, to raise cash for charity.

The compilation of Christmas songs and carols is being sold to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

Around 50 pupils, all aged between seven and 11, packed out the 1m music venue and sang beautiful renditions of classics like Jingle Bells, Silent Night and many others.

The album was given the professional touch by Studio staff who manned the mixing and tweaked the tracks where necessary.

The album is being sold for 5 per copy and all the proceeds will go towards Muscular Dystrophy, the school's chosen charity.

The school say that it is a CD that will make lots of mums and dads proud.

The CDs proved popular when they went on sale at the school's Christmas fare, which was held on Thursday evening, and the school hope that lots more will be flying off the shelves in the run-up to Christmas.

Music teacher Alyson Robinson said: "The children have been looking forward to this for ages, they have all felt like proper popstars.

"A few of them had been expecting to bump into Lady Gaga and one boy even asked if the Rolling Stones record there!

"They had a lovely day recording and sang really well. I'm sure all of the mums and dads will be very proud when they hear it – it might even draw a few tears."

Anyone interested in buying a copy of Sacred Heart Choir Christmas 2010 should call Alyson Robinson on (01429) 272684.
