VIDEO: Your Mothers’ Day messages

MOTHERS’ Day is the one day of the year set aside to give mums a break with breakfast in bed served up with cards and flowers.

It’s their special day and it’s our chance to say thank you for all the cooking and the cleaning, the good advice they give us and the cash they lend us.

So we headed out to ask people why they love their mum.

Charlotte Willis, who is 23 and unemployed and comes from the Owton Manor area, said: “I love my mam because she’s been through a lot lately, but she’s still strong and she’s always there for me.”

Honour Dale, who is an unemployed 19 -year old from Owton Manor, said: “I love my mam because she’s always there for me even though she’s been through a lot.”

Jamie Carter, who is 24 and unemployed and comes from the Dyke House area, proved that the way to a son’s heart is through his stomach when he said: “I love my mam because she makes the best mince and dumplings ever.”

Maria Conway, who is 22 and unemployed and comes from Dyke House, said: “I love my mam because she’s caring and she listens to me when I’ve got problems.”

Sharon Mallinson, a 53-year old personal assistant from Stranton, said: “I love my step-mam because she’s just there for everybody in the family and she just helps me when I need help. She’s been there through my illnesses so I’d just like to say thank you very much to her.”

Neil Guffick, a 35-year old part- time office worker, said: “I love my mam because she does a lot for me. She cooks and cleans and does everything for me.”

So whatever your reasons for loving your mum, whether it’s because she’s always there for you, or because she makes the best mince and dumplings ever, Sunday is your chance to show it.
