WEATHERMEN have warned drivers across the North-East to beware teatime downpours today – possibly leading to some flooding on the roads.
Experts are predicting spray on road surfaces and possible flooding from 4pm and throughout almost all the evening.
The warning has been issued for all of the region but the downpour is expected to have ended by midnight with predictions for brighter and warmer conditions in Hartlepool and East Durham tomorrow.
Much of the UK enjoyed balmy temperatures well above the May average at the weekend.
But cloudier skies have returned and are likely to remain until at least the weekend.
Forecasts also show Hartlepool can expect more heavy rain on Thursday.
Longer term predictions show the weather will probably remain unsettled next week with the North-East likely to get breezier conditions.
