Weigh to go for DJ slimmer Chris

A DJ who vowed to lose 10 stone in a year is well on the way to his target after shedding four stone in just three months.

Hartlepool man Chris Lavender has dropped from 24st 6lb to just over 20st after deciding to fight the flab while raising money for charity.

The 34-year-old appeared in the Mail in May as he started out on his mammoth challenge with help from personal trainer Gavin Naylor.

Chris, from Breward Walk, said: "I feel great. My fitness levels are getting there. I look slimmer and some of my clothes are too big now.

"I bought a pair of jeans for Christmas which were too tight and now they're too baggy."

Chris is being sponsored to shed the pounds and has so far raised 1,500 for Help for Heroes, which helps injured service personnel and their families, and the 999 Fund, which helps emergency services workers who are injured or bereaved relatives.

He said: "Four stone is what was expected but my trainer is totally amazed. When I get on the scales he says 'you've done it again'."

Chris, who works in Ultima, which was formerly the Lighthouse, as well as other town venues, said some weeks he loses eight or nine pounds and other weeks he stays the same.

He added that he goes to the gym at the Brierton Community Sports Centre seven days a week, working out with Gavin four times a week and three times on his own, as well as carrying out two extra sessions of circuit training.

"The more weight I lose, the more I love it," he said.

The dad-of-one said occasionally he will have a treat. But he sticks to healthy curries and if he fancies chips they will be home-made rather than from the chip shop.

As part of his healthy diet he eats cereal, five pieces of fruit, chicken, rice and drinks four litres of water.

Chris said he has raised sponsorship money with help from his ex-partner Wendy Carroll's business Cakes by Nemo and Ultimate Discos and K & P Roadshow.
