A WOMAN was left needing hospital treatment following a four-car smash at a roundabout in Hartlepool.

A green Renault Clio, a white Ford Transit van, a brown Vauxhall Meriva and a black Nissan Qashqai were involved in the incident in Greenland Road/Marina Way at 12.50pm.

A woman from one of the cars was reported to be unconscious at the scene but police say she was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, with back and wrist injuries.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “There were four vehicles involved and one casualty was taken to hospital complaining of back and wrist injuries.”

The road was cleared a short time after the incident.
