BUILDING work to construct 61 new homes on land next door to a leisure complex is set to start next month.
Developers Taylor Wimpey North East have revealed plans to start work on the new housing development called The Dunes, off Tees Road, in Seaton Carew, in March.
The development, next to the Sports Domes complex, will see a range of three- and four-bedroom houses and officials at Taylor Wimpey say there is a range of incentives on offer.
Planning permission is in place to build 244 houses on the site and the 61 homes are the first to be developed after Taylor Wimpey bought a section of land from Persimmon Homes.
The sales office will open in March, around the same time construction work will begin.

The whole site is expected to be a phased development over the next three years.
The housing estate is being built next door to the Domes leisure complex, which includes a state-of-the-art gym and top-of-the-range facilities for golf and football.
Joan Peart, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North East, said: “We’re really excited to start building on site and look forward to meeting people when the sales office opens in March.
“Any interested buyers should get in touch to register their interest.
“Schemes such as NewBuy, which allows for five per cent deposits, or Part Exchange for existing home-owners will be on offer at the new housing development.
“We also have organised discounted rates at the new leisure and sports domes for all residents, which is on the development’s doorstep.”
The ambitious £7m Sports Domes project has seen huge inflatable stadia erected off Tees Road.
The largest dome houses six five-a-side football pitches, while the second dome is aimed primarily at golfers and will include a putting course and golf simulators.
The existing Mayfair Centre building is being transformed into a gymnasium with membership for around 2,000 people, plus conference and banqueting facilities.
