Your chance to enter run

A CHARITY is urging people to run on its behalf in a prestigious race.

Children’s charity Barnardo’s, which has a shop in York Road, Hartlepool has 65 guaranteed places in the Great North Run left.

Barnardo’s runs over 70 services in the North East, costing around £17m a year.

It is looking for people to raise money, through sponsorship, for its child care work in the region.

Fundraiser Karisma Fletcher from Barnardo’s is also keen to hear from people who have places already, but were intending to run just for themselves or who had not thought about taking part on behalf of a charity before.

She said: “Taking part in the Great North Run is such a personal achievement but it can be much more than that if, on top of running for your own sense of satisfaction at doing something well, you can raise money for charity.

“At Barnardo’s in the North East we work with around 23,000 children, young people and their families a year and provide over 70 services – each one of them different.

“Every year we spend around £17m to keep our services going in the region.

“For all Barnardo’s runners we offer training advice and support as well as a complete fundraising pack to help you before the race.”

Anyone interested in a place can register at www.barnardos.org.uk/challenge events or contact Karisma at
