HARTLEPOOL Council is asking people’s views on a new plan which it has drafted to meet the changing needs of the town’s Stranton conservation area.
The borough has eight conservation areas of special architectural or historical interest, which add to the quality of life of people living, working and visiting the town.
However, these areas change over time and each area needs its own tailor-made management plan to actively manage any changes.
The council has now prepared a management plan for Stranton conservation area. The plan looks at what the local authority feels are the main issues within the area and proposes actions to address those issues.
Sarah Scarr, the council’s landscape planning and conservation team leader, said: “Change in a conservation area is inevitable and the purpose of a management plan is to direct and shape this change in such a way that it strengthens rather than undermines the special quality of the area.
“However, before we finalise it we would like as many local people as possible to have a look at it and give us their views.”
All households and businesses in the Stranton conservation area have received a leaflet summarising the proposed management plan and a questionnaire for their feedback.
The plan can also be viewed in full at www.hartlepool.gov.uk/managementplans and at Bryan Hanson House offices, off Lynn Street, during normal office hours.

The closing date for the return of questionnaires and receipt of comments is Tuesday April 2.
