FAMILIES are in for a treat at a popular village fete this weekend.
Hundreds of people are expected to enjoy the action-packed day as Elwick Village holds its annual event.
A whole host of fun and activities are planned for the event, which takes place this Saturday from 2pm.
Stalls, crafts, raffles and fairground rides are all on offer and children can also show off their console skills as Grainger Games are taking along their gaming Hummer.
Entertainment will be provided by the impressive Hartlepool Hawks cheerleading squad and a dog show will also feature.
Residents can also play their part.
Entries are still being accepted for a photography competition which will be judged on the day.
The theme is outdoor living and keen photographers have until Thursday to get their entries into Elwick Village Post Office.
An over 40s versus under 40s football match is also taking place on the day.
Kick-off is 4pm on Elwick playing fields and anyone who fancies a game should register their interest in the post office.
A match presentation will follow in a marquee on Elwick green before people can enjoy a race night to cap off the day.
All money raised at the race night will go towards St Peter’s Elwick CE Primary School.
Organisers are looking forward to the event this weekend and said they are expecting big crowds.
Maxine Coss, chairman of the Elwick Millennium Association, which organises the fete, said: “The feedback we have had in the lead up to the event has been good and we are expecting a lot of people.
“We are hoping for good weather, it has been kind to us in the past and hopefully this year will be the same.”
Application forms for the fete photography competition can be collected from the post office or from the Hartlepool Mail’s reception.
Anyone with any queries or for further information about the fete, should contact Elwick Village Post Office on (01429) 272216.
