A FOOTBALL club has hit the back of the net after being given a lottery boost.
Peterlee Town Football Club has been granted £9,530 for activity sessions aimed at improving young people’s health, social skills and involvement in the local community.
The cash has come from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme, which offers grants of between £300 and £10,000 to social and environmental projects that will benefit local communities and make a difference to the lives of those most in need.
James Turner, Big Lottery Fund head of region for the North-East, said: “It is one of 33 groups across the region that are benefiting with funding from the Awards for All programme, all of which will have a big impact on local communities and the lives of those who live in them.”
Voluntary and community groups, schools, health organisations and parish and town councils can all apply for cash under the fund.
