A PARK that has won lottery funding to develop new sports facilities will host a celebration event today.
John Whitehead Park in Billingham is one of 30 North-East community sports projects that have won a share of a £1.3m windfall from the Inspired Facilities Olympic legacy fund.
The cash will help the park develop a skate and BMX area, ball games area and improve the tennis courts.
Projects that have successfully bid for funding will receive cheques from Stockton North MP Alex Cunningham and Sport England’s Judith Rasmussen.
The day will also feature sport sessions for people aged 14 to 25 and be attended by representatives from Sport England’s other legacy programmes Sportivate and Sport Makers.
