JUBILEE fever arrived early in Hartlepool when a classic car decked out in red, white and blue rolled into town.
The eye-catching Reliant Robin turned a lot of heads across town thanks to its patriotic look, covered in Union flags, a royal crest and Union flag fluffy dice.
But it wasn’t Del Boy or Rodney from Only Fools and Horses behind the wheel.
The distinctive three-wheeler was in town as part of promotional work by estate agents Robinsons, which is based in York Road, Hartlepool.
And it certainly seemed to spread a little patriotic spirt as it drove around town judging from people’s reaction.
Ann Lilley, senior negotiator at the estate agents, said: “We have been using the car to do leaflet drops around town.
“The response from people who saw it was fantastic.
“People have been beeping their horns and waving at us so it has definitely had an effect.”
The car, fittingly called Lizzie, had a Union flag roof, seat covers and even fluffy dice. It also celebrated this year’s London Olympics with the five Olympic rings proudly emblazoned across it.
The car was in Hartlepool for one day as it toured Robinsons’ branches up and down the country in the run-up to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at the beginning of next month.
The popular three-wheeler has undergone several relaunches over the years since it first rolled off the production line in 1973.
A series of events to celebrate the jubilee are planned in Hartlepool over the weekend of Friday, June 1 to Tuesday, June 5, including exhibitions, live music and street entertainment.
Many communities are also holding picnics and street parties.
