Have your say

SAT in the office unassumingly tucking into my turkey bagel, it seemed like any other day.

That was until I was dropped the bombshell by my news editor that I was to make the trip to the Headland Carnival and buckle up for one of the all-spinning, all-rising, super-speed rides that took pride of place on the moor.

Well, when I say bombshell, I’d like to say I actually felt quite calm.

I’ve been on plenty of rides before, it can’t be that bad, can it?

Then I saw Vertigo!

A 40m tall, 60mph monster, enough to send the butterfies circling in the stomach of any thrill-seeking madman – and I’m not one of them.

I approached, nervously, planning my get out – which thankfully wasn’t needed.

The attendant must have fancied a turkey bagel of his own, and had taken a dinner break so the ride hadn’t started yet.

I thought that was that, and with a spring in my step headed off back to the car only to be approached by a friendly looking guy, named Chris.

Chris explained that he was the attendant on a new ride, named Top Star, which he pointed out.

Within seconds I found myself buckled up on this brand new ride and ready to go.

Frank Reid, our photographer, smirked as he stood safely on the ground.

Any grin on my face was wiped away as Top Star threw me into the air, spinning at speed.

I’d like to say I knew what was going on, but I lost all sense of speed, direction and time.

But somehow, I enjoyed it.

Now it’s your turn...
