FESTIVE fundraisers can make a splash for charities close to their heart once again this Christmas.
Hartlepool Round Table is organising the Boxing Day Dip – and is appealing for people to sign up.
Last year’s event raised more than £20,000 for all sorts of good causes when 330 people took a dip in the freezing sea at Seaton Carew, cheered on by thousands of supporters. The Staincliffe Hotel, at The Cliff, will be the venue again for dippers to register and change afterwards.
Hartlepool Round Table is making the arrangements for a second year after taking over the reins from the Hartlepool Lions Club which ran the event for 40 years.
Allan Wise, chairman of Hartlepool Round Table, said: “You get the Hartlepool Round Table Boxing Day Dip 2013 wristband, programme on the day and you’re covered for the event.
“It will be from the Staincliffe Hotel, and we want everyone to come along and most importantly have fun by dressing for the occasion.
“As in previous years the costumes are expected to be fantastic.
“We have the mayor joining us again and we hope that everyone raises stacks of cash for their nominated charities.”
Sponsorship forms will be available from Hartlepool Round Table’s website shortly so dippers can set about raising as much money as possible.
People can register on the day from 10am and it costs £5 to take part. At 11.30am dippers, led by a pipe band, will parade down to the beach for the dip itself.
Only people wearing an official dip wristband will be allowed into the sea. The dip, sponsored by Huntsman Tioxide will be all over by noon.
