THEY’RE in the money, money, money thanks to a charity fundraiser.
An open-air showing of the hit film Mamma Mia has raised around £2,500 for Hartlepool Families First.
Families First chair Pamela Hargreaves said: “The total is fantastic and incredible given that it rained all day. It was, however, a great event and people who braved the rain all said they really enjoyed it.”
The event was a follow-up to the first film event last year when Grease was the movie on show.
This year’s fundraiser was held at West Hartlepool Rugby Club, in Catcote Road and other attractions on the day included party games, a big raffle, and a chance to dress as a member of Abba.
Families First, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, helps more than 1,200 people and has been described as a “community full of support and advice.”
It offers a health bus, play bus, a special needs toy library and Families First also operates the bistro at One77, in York Road.
More than 100 families are registered on its database.
