A 25-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed three times in the stomach in a late night attack.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to a house in Brecongill Close, Hartlepool, just after 11pm yesterday after reports that a man had suffered stab wounds.
The 25-year-old town man was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, with injuries to his stomach.
The road in the Dyke House area of town was closed off for a short time while police officers launched their investigations.
It is not yet clear where the man suffered the wounds but it is believed that he had made his way to an address in Brecongill Close to raise the alarm.
Police have described the victim’s injuries as not life threatening.
He was due to be questioned by officers today to establish exactly what happened.
No arrests have been made at the time of going to press and officers say inquiries are ongoing.
A Cleveland Police spokesman said: “A 25-year-old male has been stabbed in the stomach three times.
“He was taken to North Tees University Hospital were he is currently receiving treatment.
“Our enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We received the call at 11.02pm after reports of a male with abdominal injuries.
“An ambulance was dispatched and the patient was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.”
