Man airlifted to hospital after power tool accident causes ‘serious leg injuries’

A MAN was airlifted to hospital after he suffered severe cuts to his legs in an accident while making a bird table.

The Great North Air Ambulance went to the aid of the 59-year-old man in Horden.

The accident happened at around 1.30pm yesterday.

He was flown straight to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and was said to be in a stable condition upon arrival.

A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance service said: “We were called at 1.32pm on Sunday to assist a male who had sustained serious injuries to both legs.

“He was making a bird table with some sort of power tool and had an accident.”
